| Located on a 140-acre wine estate in the Valley of the Moon near Sonoma, this 14,000 square foot main house incorporates stacked stone walls, a reflecting pool and large glass openings that obscure the boundaries between inside and outside. As mechanical engineers for the project, we've solved these special challenges by designing a geothermal heat pump system that extracts heat from the earth in winter and recharges heat to the earth in summer. Radiant floor heating and nearly-invisible air conditioning complement the meticulous design by Aidlin-Darling Architects of San Francisco. |
